Lotus Plant Description

Inspiration Lotus is a lotus we are extremely happy to announce! Inspiration Lotus was named for hybridizer and curator of aquatic plants at Longwood Gardens, Patrick Nutt. He was an 'inspiration' to all who knew him, and he was passionate about teaching others all he knew about aquatic plants. His favorite saying was "Keep up your good work".

This incredible sacred lotus has beautiful red blooms with classic, single petal form. The petals are wide and the receptacles are bright-yellow with a fringe of yellow stamens that add texture and interest. A captivating showpiece for your water garden feature! Inspiration Lotus will be the centerpiece of your water garden, pond or patio!

Naming rights for this lotus were donated by friend and hybridizer Laura Bancroft, to raise support for the Longwood Gardens NEW Patrick Nutt Scholarship. Patrick Nutt was a hybridizer and a curator for Longwood Gardens

The name was chosen by Pond Megastore owner, Zac deGarmeaux, along with two colleagues.

Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant in a wide (24-48 inches or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the surface of the soil and place your lotus tuber in the trench, cover all but the growth tips with soil, leaving the growth tips exposed and add 2 or 3 inches of water above the soil. Place your lotus container in a sunny location outside where it will receive 8+ hours of sunlight each day. In a week or two your lotus should have coin leaves growing on the surface of the water. In a week or so after the coin leaves, you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.

Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Once you have aerial leaves growing out of the water, fertilize your lotus with 4-6 fertilizer tabs  each month during the growing/blooming season (June through September). Simply press the fertilizer tabs into the soil near the roots of your lotus plant, take care not to damage the roots. Your lotus plant should grow and bloom the very first year!

Please see our 'Complete Lotus Guide' included with your lotus purchase.

Excellent dog balls — safe design and very durable
Style: Fetch Balls (Pack of 3), Size: 2.5 inch
These fetch balls from Amazon Basics are fantastic, and my dog absolutely loves them. One of the biggest reasons I prefer these over other brands is the hole that runs through the center of the ball. This is a very important safety feature: if a dog were to accidentally get the ball stuck in the back of the throat, the hole allows air to pass through. That small detail could literally make a life-saving difference. Aside from the safety benefit, they bounce well, are easy to clean, and hold up to a lot of playtime. They’re firm but not rock-hard, and my dog goes crazy for them. Great value, great quality, and a thoughtful design. Highly recommended for dog owners who want a safer alternative to standard solid rubber balls.

Great ball for heavy chewers
Style: Assorted Balls (Pack of 3), Size: 2.5 inch
Great toy for my Doberman. She chews through tennis balls in about 15 minutes but these are very durable. She likes to chase them but also just chew on them.

My dog loves glowing fetch at night!
Style: Glow Balls (Pack of 3), Size: 2.5 inch
Fantastic. Sturdy. My dog loves them Glow in the dark is great for fetch at night. I keep a flashlight with me because the glow doesn't last really long. But they charge very quickly and are really bright.

Indestructible
Style: Fetch Balls (Pack of 2), Size: 3 inch
These balls are indestructible! We have a lab and a lab mix and they CANNOT damage these balls. They love them for fetch and to just chew on them (slightly squishy, but NO damage). Best toys we have bought for them.
