Six Questions Your TAB The Alternative Board Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this peer advisory board franchise model using deep-dive research into professional service unit economics. Key assumptions like the $44,000 franchise fee, recurring membership dues, and StratPro consulting revenue are pre-populated and ready for your local market adjustments. At $480,000 in year-one revenue, the model helps you track how every dollar of dues flows through to the bottom line.

When will the unit turn a profit?

Based on the data, this business advisory franchise model shows profitability in the first year with an EBITDA of $82,000. By year five, net profit is projected to reach $440,000 as you scale membership dues and consulting revenue while keeping fixed costs stable. Profitability analysis for professional services franchise units depends heavily on maintaining high membership retention and managing the $163,000+ annual payroll.

Boost Your Bottom Line

  • Upsell StratPro consulting services
  • Maximize boardroom rental income
  • Maintain high member retention
[dynamic_pic9]

What is the total investment and where does it go?

You will need significant startup capital requirements to launch, including a $44,000 franchise fee and $12,000 for leasehold improvements. The total initial investment also covers AV equipment, furniture, and IT hardware to ensure a premium executive experience. Estimating operating expenses for a new franchise is easier when you account for the $7,500 furniture and $10,500 AV equipment needs upfront.

Major Startup Costs

  • Franchise Fee: $44,000
  • Leasehold Improvements: $12,000
  • AV Equipment: $10,500
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the expected return on investment?

The model projects an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 9.45% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 1.08. With a 2-year payback period, this franchise investment feasibility study suggests a relatively quick recovery of your initial capital compared to other professional service models. The average net margin improves significantly as revenue climbs toward the $1.08M mark in year five.

Key Investment Metrics

  • IRR: 9.45 percent
  • Payback Period: 2 Years
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $440,000
[dynamic_pic11]

How much revenue is needed to break even?

The break-even date is estimated for January 2026, just one month after launch. This rapid break-even is driven by the high-margin nature of membership dues and consulting, though it defintely depends on hitting your initial recruitment targets. To stay above break-even, you must cover $8,700 in monthly fixed costs plus the 22% combined royalty and marketing burden.

Path to Break-Even

  • Secure 10+ founding members
  • Minimize pre-opening labor costs
  • Leverage local chamber partnerships
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway and lowest point?

The minimum cash point is projected at $1,189,000 in December 2026. This indicates you need a substantial cash buffer to handle the ramp-up phase and the timing gap between paying fixed expenses like $6,000 monthly rent and collecting dues. Managing the cash runway requires close attention to the $133,000+ total annual salary for your initial four-person team.

Protect Your Cash Flow

  • Collect dues via autopay
  • Phase IT hardware purchases
  • Monitor recruiter commission timing
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different scenarios impact results?

Creating a pro forma for a franchise business requires looking at Low, Medium, and High cases. While the Medium case shows $480,000 in year-1 revenue, a High scenario driven by better local marketing execution could significantly shorten the payback period and increase the year-5 margin. Small shifts in the 20% royalty fee impact can be offset by higher volume in StratPro consulting sessions.

Drive High-Case Results

  • Increase average ticket via StratPro
  • Optimize member acquisition costs
  • Host frequent showcase events

Better than our actual mattress!!
Style: 22", Color: Grey, Size: Queen, Style: 22", Color: Grey, Size: Queen
Purchased for company to stay with us in our apartment. I honestly had no idea they made air mattresses this tall until I saw a friend with one! My husband and I tested it out last night. We were both really impressed! 1. Really easy to inflate! First time having an internal air pump. No more forgetting the pump! The motor wasn’t nearly as loud as our previous air pump! I was able to talk to my husband and he could still hear me over the pump running. 2. Really comfortable and supportive! We chose not to inflate it fully so it contoured to our bodies better. We slept on the mattress with no sheets and I wasn’t able to feel the creases in the top which was nice. No issues with sagging and we both didn’t wake up smooshed in the middle. My husband got up in the middle of the night and I didn’t notice. So movement of the mattress is minimal! Easy to get on and off with the 22” height. 3. Easy to deflate! We followed the instructions for folding and we got it in the storage bag with no issues. Just make sure all of the air is out before you fold it. 4. High quality! We had both of our small dogs on this with us. I was afraid of their nails poking a hole but so far so good! Only a little bit of air leaked out but it could’ve been the material stretching out during the night. Cons: The pump does not shut off automatically when inflating or deflating. So keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overfill. The mattress does get cold at night. My husband and I both mentioned that in the morning. I had to roll up in my blanket to stay warm. I’ll try sheets on next time. In the summer it might not be that big of an issue. Ours came with one patch. Hopefully we won’t need to use it.

A lot of comfort for a very inexpensive price
Style: 18", Color: Grey, Size: Twin
We needed a spare mattress, but didn’t want to have a dedicated spare bedroom but wanted a comfortable bed. Couldn’t afford these high priced mattresses these days like the air beds or luxury coil spring with gel which are thousands of dollars. Miss air mattresses, very comfortable and adorable and I like the flocked top on it. And it has the self inflatable pump which is very easy and inconvenient. This makes a very inexpensive alternative. Even if it only lasts 6 months or so you can buy a whole lot of these for a lot less money than thousands of dollars for the other beds. In tax is a wonderful brand. I’ve bought it many times. Their vinyl material is very thick and durable. Intex makes flotation devices, blowup rafts, beach floaties, Kayaks, etc. They have an excellent product & know what they’re doing.

Great Queen Size Air Mattress - NO Fuss
Style: 18", Color: Grey, Size: Queen
Great air mattress! Comfortable to sleep on. Powerful pump. Nice size. The bag to store it is very convenient and one of the easiest to put bed in once deflated. Reviews spot on with this product.

Skeptical at first, but after first use (so far) it’s a solid product
Style: 22", Color: Grey, Size: Queen
I initially bought this to stay at my MIL’s senior community (to help her get settled), so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it and I planned to leave it for other relatives that might want to visit. I expected it to be cheap-ish quality and probably not last through my two week stay. First off, set up was a breeze. I laid it out and started inflation and it took about 4-5 minutes to fully inflate. The motor made noise, but it’s to be expected from something like this—I can say that it wasn’t as noisy as our Costco-bought mattress. Second, it’s big—but that’s not a bad thing as much as I thought anyway after I saw it fully inflated. Turns out, for me, it’s a good thing. Our Costco mattress sits low to the floor and as it deflates a bit during the night, it’s tough to get up. This one (the 22” model and the largest one at this writing) is wonderful as I can sit on the edge of it and stand up easily. Your experience may be different, but for older folks it makes it really easy to get out of bed in the morning. How does it sleep? Well, since I was visiting by myself and my significant other wasn’t with me, I can only speak for a single sleeper. It was really comfortable! It did take a bit of tweaking though as I thought I would like it more firm as I like to side sleep. The first couple of nights were a bit rough as I tossed and turned a bit in my sleep—I found that I couldn’t get comfortable on my side. For the reviews that say that it deflates after sleeping on it, I can say that it did seem to lose some air after the first two nights. The manufacturer does state that it does “stretch” and not deflate. As I wanted to test that statement, I didn’t change the firmness of it by re-inflating it to where I had it. The third and fourth nights were better sleep and I didn’t feel like the mattress deflated at all, so I found the stretch statement to be valid—it wasn’t losing air. After that night, I re-inflated it to where I thought I’d like it. The next night was the same tossing and turning that I had those first two nights, so I concluded that I needed to make it less firm and I actually DEflated it a bit and for the rest of the stay it was perfect! I didn’t have to touch it and I even unplugged it. When I was getting ready to leave, I started the deflation process by turning the dial in the opposite direction. It took longer to deflate, so I walked away for a bit—I’d guess about 7-8 minutes. When I came back the mattress was flat as a pancake and ready to fold. This is the only hassle of the process as folding it to get it into the storage bag and back into the box (for storage). I do like the tote that they provide as the handles make it easy to lug about. So, the first use was a success. If repeated uses reveal issues, I’ll report back. I will say that I plan to buy another one to replace our beloved Costco air mattress—she’s showing her age and the height of this one as well as the cost make it a no-brainer to get it as a second. We’ll use this one until it dies (if it even does) and then fall back on our old one if needed. I gave an overall 5 stars for the product with 4 stars for sleep quality and comfort only because your idea of these two might be a bit of a learning experience until you find your inflation sweet spot—so it’s not just an “inflate fully and use” type of scenario.

Comfortable, high-rise air mattress with built-in pump
Style: 22", Color: Grey, Size: Queen
The Intex Dura-Beam 22-inch Queen air mattress is one of the better inflatable beds I've used. The built-in pump is very convenient — no need for an external pump or battery-powered inflator. It inflates to full firmness in a few minutes and deflates just as quickly. The 22-inch height makes it easy to get in and out of, similar to a regular bed height. The plush comfort top adds a softer surface feel. The 600 lb weight capacity is reassuring for heavier users or couples. I've had guests sleep on this for multiple nights and they reported sleeping well. It held air overnight without significant deflation. My only note is to store it carefully to avoid punctures from sharp objects. Overall a great value for guests or camping.
