London-based Cristobal And The Sea; a proper European union of a band, if there ever was one. The quartet hail from four corners of our diverse continent. They are: Alejandro Romero from Spain (bass/vox), João Seixas from Portugal (guitar/vox), Leïla Séguin from Corsica/France (flute/vox) and Josh Oldershaw from old Blighty (drums). Within this melting pot of dreamy tropicalia there are notes of their southern Mediterranean culture and a Brazilian bossa nova feel in João's guitar style, all underpinned by a beat-generation vibe that seeps into all their songs. All perfectly captured on this debut by Brooklyn producer, Rusty Santos (Animal Collective, Vashti Bunyan, Grizzy Bear). Fresh out of the studio with producer, Rusty Santos this July, their debut EP 'Peach Bells EP' will be released on a one-sided vinyl 12" in early December. Recorded over the course of a week in London's Strongroom Studios, most of the instrumentation was captured in just one or two live takes to preserve the spontaneity & unaffected air that makes their music so rousing & individual.

Best in the series so far
Format: Paperback
I have loved all of the graphic novels of the H.P. Lovecraft stories but this one is by far my favorite. The detail on character expressions nicely compliment the story and is a wonderful interpretation of the source material.

Perfect Adaptation of Lovecraft's Story
Format: Kindle
Gou Tanabe has been making probably the best manga/comic adaptations of Lovecraft's works recently, and this depiction of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is by far the best.
Tanabe really captures visually what Lovecraft was conveying via the text of the original story. Innsmouth is decrepit and rotting, the locals are sinister, and the deep ones are hideous. And, as always, Tanabe's art is of the highest quality.
I can't recommend this enough, and I eagerly await whatever adaptation he does next.

Gou has done it again.
Format: Paperback
I like the original text, I love the adaptation because it doesn't stray too far from it. The illustration is beautiful and sometimes gross (In a good way, I mean it's a cosmic horror about people turning into fish, maybe don't read it right before a meal or before bed.)
Gou Tanabe has been working through many of H.P Lovecraft's more popular or interesting stories and this one is just about as good as the rest. The translation as always is very good throughout with only one or two "Wait, what?" moments which could have come from reading the original text differently.
I definitely recommend this book and several of others from Gou Tanabe if you love cosmic horror, manga, or H.P Lovecraft.

An Eldritch Tale Deserving the Manga Treatment
Format: Paperback
One of Lovecraft's very best (and my personal favourite of his macabre tales), rendered in grotesque mana style. While it doesn't eclipse its inspiration, I thoroughly enjoyed this unique take on a classic tale.
