The boy is very happy, and the tree is very happy too. However, the boy eventually grew up and stopped playing with the tree. The boy hopes to get money and the tree gives him apples to exchange for money; the boy needs to establish a family and the tree gives him branches to build a house; the boy wants to go on a voyage and the tree gives him the trunk to build a boat. In the end, when the boy turned into an old man and returned to the tree, the tree had nothing left to give him but a stump for the boy to sit down and rest... 

This is a moving story composed of a boy and a tree that loves him. It is also a heart-wrenching fable that allows children to understand the true meaning of love between giving and receiving, loving, and being loved.
