Boris Bunnik is no stranger in the world of electronic music. He released several albums and EPs under a variety of monikers, most notable Conforce, since 2007 on labels like Delsin, Shipwrec, Frustrated Funk, and his own Transcendent imprint. Fauxpas Musik welcomes him for a new project called Severnaya. Originally hailing from the Island of Terschelling, the most northern and remote part of the Netherlands, Polar Skies is a piece of music dedicated to this special place. Severnaya means north in Russian and refers to the bright frozen landscapes of the northern archipels. Boris often plays with the influences and elements of ambient in his music. Coming from the man himself, Polar Skies is his most personal sound trajectory to come from his mind. Drum programming is scarce and what remains is a lush and profound listening experience floating on soundscapes and melodies. His roots and intentions are represented in the airy, tranquil sound design of Polar Skies. Things sound spacious, and life is at ease in these melancholic compositions. Crispy crackling percussions and icy pads place you in the midst of a resonant arctic landscape. You can hear influences drawn from producers like Biosphere, Pub, Brian Eno, but you'll also hear more contemporary influences from modern day film composition, but most of all, you'll hear Boris's own signature. The tracks were composed over a couple of years, from 2015-2017, in a more contemplative mindset. At some point this selection formed a consistent piece of music and, as a result, you hear his most personal and fragile works to date. Written and produced by Boris Bunnik, at the PasadenaOceanlab Studios. 180 gram vinyl; hot foil stamping on the cover.

Mostly great, except one little annoyance
Color: Black&Silver, Color: Black&Silver
Pros- lightweight, small, very accurate, easy to clean, timer included. Cons- I use this to brew espresso on my Breville Touch and to get an accurate reading, you have to place something flat (structured) under the scale. Otherwise the reading just jumps all over the place. I know lot of espresso machines have the same base, so this might be an issue for some! This is my reason for 4/5 stars. It’s an easy fix, it’s just kind of annoying. Value for the price seems to be on point. It’s easy to clean. It has a timer as well as scale (nice for espresso). Buttons work the first time you push them. That’s it that’s all

A solid upgrade!
Size: 53mm, Size: 53mm
This coffee tamper has been such a nice upgrade to my espresso routine. It has a solid, balanced weight that makes tamping feel smooth and effortless, and the textured grip gives it a really comfortable, secure feel in hand. There’s something satisfying about how neatly it presses down the coffee grounds—like it was made to fit perfectly. Since I started using it, my shots have been more consistent, with a beautiful crema and better flavor overall. If you’re looking for a tamper that’s simple, well-made, and does its job really well, this one’s definitely worth it.

It's pretty
Size: 51mm
I've never had a tamper, I don't know what I'm doing. But it seems to work just fine and I like the wood.
