Mere Morality: What God Expects from Ordinary PeopleIs there a morality that shows us how to survive as a humane community? Can we know what God expects of the human family? Is there a morality that shows us how to survive as a humane community? Can we know what God expects of the human family? Is there a morality for ordinary people? In this book, the author of Sex for Christians and Love within Limits explores the way to moral sanity amid the confusions and crises of contemporary life. We do not, says Smedes, have a moral map to mark out the details of our route in advance, but neither are we left to grope and improvise at every step. The focus of Smedes's study is the commandments -- in particular those five of the Ten Commandments which call us to respect other persons: Honor your father and mother; You shall not kill; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness. Each of these commandments pinpoints the moral nucleus of one sector of life in community -- family, marriage, property, communication, and the preservation of life itself. Using these commandments as a basis, Smedes asks three questions: What does God command us to do? Why does he command this? And how can we obey this in the ambiguities and conflicts of real life? Smedes answers the first question by extracting the simple meaning of the commands. He probes answers to the second question -- why? -- on the premise that a reasonable Creator commands his creatures only to be what they are and to act in ways that fit their nature as human beings in community. Moral norms are not alien, claims Smedes, they conform to our being. It is in answering how to obey these commandments in ordinary life that Smedes moves from the ancient words at Sinai to the troubled twentieth-century context in which we live. This is not always an easy task. The commandment may signal a clear moral direction, but determining whether and how its absolute fits into each new situation will require patient common sense, tough-minded reason, and devout faith. Such painful struggles, for which Smedes provides eloquent guidance are at the core of responsible moral living.Binding Type: Paperback

Excellent story to add to the Wolverine character
Format: Paperback
Really good crossover that is written really well. The story is very organic and I think this is the best of the Predator crossovers. It isn’t just a simple hunting and fighting story. I loved one of the first (if not the actual first) Predator crossover in the early 90s with Batman. That was the best for me for many decades. I also thought the Tarzan vs Predator was good too, something about the jungle setting felt right. But this Wolverine vs Predator is the best I think because the writing is so good. There is good reason and relationship between Wolverine and Predator for the fights and action to happen and between the various flashbacks and the eventual climax, the story felt so right that it didn’t feel out of place in the mythology of Logan.

good dream deathmatch between two tough characters
Format: Paperback
This comic trade paperback collects a series that took a stab at one of the most ambitious (and fun) what-if scenarios ever. The writing was true to both characters, and the artwork (by multiple artists across the series) ranged from good to great. I liked how the predator(s) had encountered Logan/Wolverine at multiple different times in his life, and how other characters from his history made appearances here. Overall, a very well-done and gritty series.

Decent read for either fan
Format: Paperback
The illustrations were great for what I was looking for and come to expect from the genre. The story wasn't bad but Wolverine spent most of the time brooding through thought bubbles and was protected a couple of times by plot armor. Also, not sure if the ending is possible given his regenerative mutation...Deadpool probably but I didn't think Logan's worked like that.

Good read.
Format: Kindle
Instant classic. I'll file this under the parallel universe concept. That way , the pure Marvel Universe timeline goes unstained.

Faithful to the soap's original scent
Scent: Original Citrus + Eucalyptus
I love the Huron Original Citrus + Eucalyptus bar soap so much, I started looking at the cologne from the same company. I collect (too many) fragrances, and love having different scents to choose from depending on the day and occasion. I have plenty of warmer scents, but not enough freshies that I really like. After reading other reviews here on Amazon, I figured this was a safe bet. And I was right!
Performance is great. I use it on my skin only (because I only really want my wife and I smelling me...not everyone else who I walk by). It lasts me 8+ hours easily. And the fragrance is true to the original scent I know from Huron's soap. Exactly what I wanted. It's a very fair price for a cologne that performs this well, and I can wear it anywhere for any purpose, very versatile.
The bottle is nice and the atomizer is strong and even.
