There are around 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability and 700,000 with autism. Photographer Polly Braden has spent two years working with just a few who are supported by MacIntyre *, a charity that provides more than 1500 children and adults with learning, support and care. Her photographs look at the everyday moments, achievements and milestones. The subject is complex but the aim is simple: to highlight everyday interactions and life-changing experiences.

These are stories about the barriers faced in life, but they are also inspiring, often filled with moments of achievement in things which once seemed difficult if not impossible – from finding employment or using public transport to gaining a measure of independence, graduating from high school or getting married. Great Interactions looks to engage decision-makers and the wider public to ensure that people with a learning disability receive the same opportunities as anyone else.

'In these intimate photos, Polly Braden captures the inner lives of people with differences and disabilities. She sees their dignity and their sometime pathos; their humor and their disappointment; their optimism and their ability to love. Above all, she documents their intense individuality, and makes you see each one as an independent being. This is not a portrait of disability, but a series of portraits of people with disabilities. It is achieved with clarity, respect, and wit.'  – Andrew Solomon, author of 'Far From The Tree'

Renowned for her photographs of intimate communication between people, and of gestures that hint at something without explaining it, Polly Braden explores the relationship between everyday life, work, leisure and economics. She works on long-term, self-initiated projects, and on commissions for international publications. Her book China Between was published by Dewi Lewis in 2010 and her work has appeared in several other publications. In recent years she has collaborated with journalists to produce extended photo-essays in the UK, the Middle East, Morocco, Kenya and China. She has worked with The Guardian, The Saturday Telegraph Magazine, Portfolio, ICON, Photoworks, and Frieze. A previous winner of both the Jerwood Photography Prize and The Guardian Young Photographer of the Year award, Braden has exhibited internationally including exhibitons in the UK, Germany and the United States.

* MacIntyre is a leading national charity providing learning, support, education and care to over 1500 children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and autism, and their families across England and Wales. In 2016 it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Taste and Quality are Excellent!
Flavor Name: Vanilla, Size: 30 Servings (Pack of 1)
Thorne has a reputation for high quality products so I thought I’d try this whey protein. It tastes really good! I find it easy to digest, and it dissolves easily. I plan to make this my go-to whey protein.

Definitely sweet but good mixed
Flavor Name: Vanilla, Size: 30 Servings (Pack of 1)
The vanilla would be too sweet on it's own for me but with strawberries and spinach it's perfect.

Horribly ‘weird’ sweet flavor
Flavor Name: Vanilla, Size: 30 Servings (Pack of 1)
Horrible taste - synthetic sweetness than destroys my shakes. I bought Thorne because of its high quality but this is one of their products that won’t work for me. I’m struggling through the jar because it’s too expensive to waste. Using cacao powder, cinnamon & cardamom to try to tone down the overwhelming ‘sweet.’

Absolutely Great Stuff
Flavor Name: Vanilla, Size: 30 Servings (Pack of 1)
The vanilla flavored Protein Powder has to be the Best tasting Protein Powder Ever. Literally delicious. Product satisfies your appetite while supplementing your body with needed protein and nutrients. Combined with gym workouts I’ve noticed firmer muscles. A nice noticeable improvement.

It's a thing...
Flavor Name: Vanilla, Size: 14 Servings (Pack of 1)
I am probably the most skeptical person when it comes to supplements. I’ve tried so many over the years and honestly… most of them felt like a waste of money or just hype. But I have to say—this combo has completely surprised me. I’ve been consistently using Thorne protein and creatine, and within a few weeks I started noticing real changes. Not just how I feel, but how I look. My shoulders especially are looking more defined, and I feel stronger in my workouts without feeling jittery or weird like some products can make you feel. What really stands out to me is how clean and simple it is. No bloating, no heavy feeling, no unnecessary extras—just something that actually supports what I’m already doing. I also love that it fits easily into my routine. I take my creatine with my morning coffee (super easy habit), and I’ve been doing a protein shake after workouts which has helped a lot with recovery and keeping me on track nutritionally. I’m currently in a calorie deficit getting ready for a trip, and this has honestly made it feel doable without feeling depleted. If you’re someone like me who is hesitant about supplements, I’d say this is the first time I’ve actually felt like something made a noticeable difference.
